OHIO celebrates Women’s History Month

俄亥俄州的 Division of Diversity 和 Inclusion 和 Women’s Center will join a nationwide effort to celebrate Women’s History Month throughout March through numerous campus 事件 和 engagement opportunities across Ohio University. 

This year, the National Women’s History Alliance (NWHA) has designated its national theme for Women’s History Month as “Women Who Advocate for Equity, Diversity 和 Inclusion.” According to the NWHA, the theme “recognizes women throughout the country who underst和 that, for a positive future, we need to eliminate bias 和 discrimination entirely from our lives 和 institutions.

“Women’s History Month is an ideal time for each of us to uplift the contributions, experiences 和 stories of the numerous women across history who have impacted both our lives 和 the lives of those around us,” said Women’s Center Director Dr. 克里斯·福勒. “今年, we invite everyone across our University community to join us in celebrating Women's History Month 和 help shine a spotlight on the women who impact us at OHIO 和 beyond.”

Women’s History Month event highlights:

International Women’s History Month Symposium
Thursday, March 7 from 1 p.m. – 4:30 p.m. | Walter Hall Rotunda

The Women's Center, the Center for Community Engagement 和 Ohio Student Senate are collaborating to host an International Women's Day Symposium.

The symposium will include:

• Student 研究 Poster session
• Women-led Community Business Panel
• Performances 和 more

校友 Inspiring Inclusion
Friday, March 8 from 10 a.m. – 11 a.m. ET | Virtual event (registration required)

This virtual event is a dynamic panel discussion featuring OHIO international alumni who will speak about how they inspire inclusion in their professional work.

Celebrate Women '24
Friday, March 22 | 兰开斯特 Campus

For the past 18 years, Celebrate Women has encouraged 和 enhanced gender equity by honoring the past, 现在, 和 potential accomplishments of women from diverse ages, 种族, 和 backgrounds. This comes through education, enlightenment, 和 inspiration. The keynote speaker for Celebrate Women '24, Allison Bolinger, is a flight director for NASA 和 will lead upcoming Boeing Starliner missions, slated to launch two astronauts on a test flight in Spring 2024 和 four astronauts for a long-duration mission in Spring 2025. Trailblazing Women in Politics
March 26 和 March 28 | Chillicothe 和 南部 校园

俄亥俄州的 Chillicothe 和 南部 campuses will each be hosting a screening of “Trailblazing Women in Ohio Politics,” a WBGU-PBS public television documentary 和 oral history project marking the electoral achievements of Democratic 和 Republican women who have broken electoral barriers in Ohio.

Unique panel discussions will follow the screenings at each event.
